The Civil War
Compiled by J. Dennis Zollinger October 2009, and expanded by Marcel Zollinger in February 2013. A further source of information was through the National Cemetery Administration, Veterans Affairs, US Government.
The present chapter on military Zollingers in the Civil War was a long time coming, and only recently was Dennis Zollinger able to pull together a document on the Zollingers who participated in the US Civil War. The data for this section was fully researched and authored by him, and Marcel Zollinger was then able to extract additional information on these soldiers from his own data file. This background has then been added to tell the story behind the documented military data. Needless to say, some Zollingers had settled in the South, and so there could have been situations where Zollingers were facing each other across the battlefield.
